Rationalisation of Agency Data Networks

A review will occur in 2005 to establish future directions for Government agency networks. This review will assess the benefits of combining the individual data communications requirements of Queensland Government agencies. It will address requirements for carrier transmission services, and includes support services such as maintenance and helpdesks. The aim of the initiative will be to improve Government buying power and to extend efficiencies through the sharing of common equipment and facilities.

Work has commenced to address immediate agency needs. The development of this strategy will be a priority for the Queensland Government Chief Information Office in 2005.
