The Government Enterprise Architecture (GEA, formerly the GIA) provides the framework to support the development of better services for Queenslanders, more efficient and effective use of ICT in government, and effective partnering with the private sector.
The GEA provides a guiding framework for individual agencies, host agencies for multi-agency projects, and for whole-of-Government projects in the development, use, and management of ICT assets. The GEA is a federated architecture, one which acknowledges that the Queensland Government is a single enterprise, composed of autonomous agencies that are responsible for their own customers and business processes, yet are able to leverage and contribute to whole of-Government investments.
The GEA will also promote architecture practices in general to help drive business management improvements across the whole-of-Government.
The GEA replaces the Government Information Architecture.
The development of the GEA is an ongoing process. The initial formulation of the GEA consists of the overarching framework plus a series of domain classification models and a set of priority domain positions and targets.
