QGCIO Secretariat
Program Area Implementation & Agency Support
The QGCIO Secretariat is central to enabling the effective operation of the governance arrangements approved by Cabinet for multi-agency and whole-of-Government ICT initiatives. The Secretariat is the "keeper" of the Strategic Information and ICT Governance Framework and the Communication and Engagement Framework and is responsible for alignment with Cabinet decisions. This includes establishing mechanisms to share knowledge on successful business and ICT projects.
The QGCIO Secretariat also plays a central role in coordinating all multi-agency and whole-of-government projects across the sector and coordinates progress reporting to the relevant bodies. It also liaises with the Office of the Government Statistician and Queensland State Archives in relation to strategic information.
Secretariat functions are provided for approximately 80 bodies including the Strategic Information and ICT CEO Committee, Executive and Council.
Smart Directions Statement for Information and Communications Technology within the Queensland Government
As the core planning document for whole-of-government activities in ICT, it is critical that the Smart Directions Statement (SDS) shows leadership to agencies in ICT planning. As such the SDS must provide meaningful activities which realise the Government's service delivery ambitions.
In order to ensure that the Smart Directions Statement is focused on service delivery needs, it has been agreed the SDS be developed in parallel with the Service Delivery Vision with the aim of releasing the two documents together. It is anticipated that this would occur in mid-2007.
This will provide an opportunity for the government to simultaneously articulate the vision, and announce an active and substantial program of work aligned with and focused on delivering the vision, showing clear action and intent.
Please direct any queries in relation to the Smart Directions Statement to Ray Melville.
