About us

The Queensland Government Chief Information Office (QGCIO) works with Queensland Government agencies, industry and the tertiary sector to develop and implement information and communication technology (ICT) strategies for the state.

ICT is central to government and constitutes a significant investment - the Queensland Government invests $1 billion annually in people, products and services related to ICT. The QGCIO aims to get maximum value out of this investment.

The QGCIO is part of the Department of Public Works.

Government Enterprise Architecture and Information Standards

We have put in place a Government Enterprise Architecture (GEA) framework and Information Standards to help Queensland Government agencies provide effective and efficient ICT services.

ICT projects - improving delivery

Our range of ICT projects is aimed at:

  • improving the delivery of Queensland Government services
  • developing best practice approaches to ICT management
  • improving access to affordable telecommunications for all Queenslanders.

Working with ICT industry

We work closely with the ICT industry because we recognise the value of partnering with the private sector and identifying new ways of doing business.

We encourage the ICT industry to showcase their developments and innovations and seek opportunities for close working relationships and partnerships.

Find out how the ICT industry can work with the Queensland Government.
