The QGCIO is made up of the following business units:
- ICT Industry Liaison - responsible for strategic sourcing, the Microsoft Innovation Fund, software licence management and Premier Support
- ICT Policy & Investment Review - undertakes and coordinates high-level analysis, research and reporting on ICT, business management and Cabinet-related matters, and houses the portfolio management office for the implementation of Toward Q2 through ICT
- ICT Workforce Capability - supports agencies in building a sustainable ICT workforce for the future through the development of tools including the Queensland Government ICT skills framework and skills assessment methodology, ICT role profiles and ICT career streams
- Implementation & Agency Support - responsible for agency liaison and support, the ICT Baseline, and the communication and marketing of ICT initiatives, including events
- Information Management - responsible for information management, right-to-information (RTI) and copyright use administration
- Policy, Enterprise Architecture & Information Security - responsible for information security, development and population of the Queensland Government Enterprise Architecture (QGEA) 2.0 and ICT planning
- Portfolio Analysis - helps identify and prioritise opportunities for more agency collaboration and improved business outcomes and
ensures an agency's overall portfolio of investments is aligned with their strategic objectives
- Strategy, Research & QGEA Operations - responsible for operations, compliance and assessment related to the QGEA 2.0, strategy, research and management of the Peer Review
- Successful Delivery Directorate - responsible for the development and delivery of better-practice methodologies including the Queensland Government Project, Program and Portfolio Management Methodologies
- Telecommunications - develops the strategic direction for internal-to-Government telecommunications and a planned approach to the improvement of telecommunications services across Queensland.
