Industry/Government ICT Program
The Industry/Government ICT Group has agreed with the QGCIO; the Information Industries Bureau; the Department of Tourism, Regional Development and Industry; and Queensland Treasury to jointly address immediate and long term issues raised by the ICT industry. These issues are:
-
removing the uncertainty in ICT spending projections in Queensland Government agencies
-
requiring agencies to obtain strategy advice on their business cases and specifications from an experienced external consultant before tenders are prepared
-
developing agencies’ understanding of the benefits in ICT industry outsourcing to overcome internal skills shortages, contain project costs, reduce project risk and improve project outcomes
-
investing in, and exploiting, ICT inspired innovation
-
reducing the cost of doing business with the Queensland Government
-
collating Queensland Government ICT project metrics
-
promoting the success of ICT projects in Queensland
-
increasing the overall ICT expenditure by the Queensland Government, as a percentage of agency budgets.
The Industry/Government ICT Group is responsible for the oversight of issues 1-3 and 5-6, while the remaining issues are jointly managed by the Industry/Government ICT Group and the ICT Ministerial Advisory Group.
