An assessment is conducted prior to any Queensland Government software being released as open source software.

These targets apply to all agencies in the scope of the related QGEA policy. If an agency believes that a target is not applicable to their context, or delivery constraints mean the deadline for the target cannot be met, they may apply for an exception to the target.

Reporting requirements

Agencies, at a minimum, must report annually to the QGCIO within the normal QGEA reporting as specified by IS2 - ICT Resources Strategic Planning.

Agencies must also report any Queensland Government software released as open source to the QGCIO through email notification at the time of release.

Issue and review

This QGEA position paper is published within the QGEA and is administered by the Queensland Government Chief Information Office (QGCIO). It was developed by the QGCIO and approved by the Queensland Government Chief Information Officer on 31 October 2009.
