Business classification scheme (Definition)

A mapping of the functions and activities of your business. It describes and shows relationships between the functions, activities and transactions (sometimes called subjects) of your agency. It can help you establish a structure for titling records and makes it easier to find, share and dispose of records. The structure of the scheme is hierarchical, moving from the general to the specific.
