Number of data instances (Definition)

The estimated number of data instances that form the information asset. For example, an electronically dependent information asset may have data stored in multiple tables (i.e. customer, services and transactions). If the information asset to be reported is ‘Service Transactions’, the estimated number of data instances would equate to the number of data records stored in the transactions table.
