Request For Information (RFI) (Definition)

An RFI is a formal notice to suppliers indicating that information is being sought as to the goods, services and/or equipment that may be available to meet a specified need. An RFI is used by agencies to assess the capability of the market to meet a specified need and to assist in selecting a short-list of the most suitable suppliers.
