Business analyst

Business Analysts help to make sure the business side of Queensland Government is supported by the very best business solutions. Graduate business analysts are key facilitators, acting as a bridge between the business areas and technical teams. They assist to analyse business and operational requirements to improve business processes – helping to deliver better services to the Queensland community. Business analysts need technology understanding, but don’t necessarily need a technical degree.

Your responsibilities may include:

  • identify and document business problems
  • support research into business change costs/benefits analysis of solutions
  • undertake and document results from research and analysis
  • use your modelling skills to understand complex organisational issues
  • define business requirements and develop business cases
  • design improved business processes.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • possess high level process modelling and analytical skills
  • possess high levels of interpersonal and written communication
  • problem solving skill and the ability to conceptualise and think creatively
  • have attention to detail.

Technical skills and qualifications

Technical skills:

  • A broad range of modelling skills including business process modelling.

Your degree may be in:

  • Information technology, information systems, business, business computing, commerce or accounting.
