The Queensland Government IT Graduate Program has been attracting graduate talent for over 10 years, contributing to a workforce geared for a digital and responsive future.

Applications are now being accepted from Australian students who have graduated in 2017 or those graduating this year in information technology, digital or IT-related degrees.

Applications for positions commencing in February 2019 close on 23 July 2018.

Andrew Mills, the Queensland Government Chief Information Officer, said the IT Grad program managed by QGCIO offers graduates a supported learning environment to unleash their potential.

“The IT Graduate Program provides students with training, support and mentoring and high numbers of graduates go on to gain established careers and growth opportunities no our most innovative digital projects,” he said.

“Graduates will contribute to our responsive and digital future, implementing positive changes for Queenslanders.”

Graduate students come from a range of different backgrounds - not just IT - and take up either a technical or non-technical role on an AO3 level contract for two years. Starting salary is from $58,638 per year plus up to 12.75 per cent superannuation.

“More than a third of grads have gained promotions during the program,” Mr Mills said.

“The program also complements the government’s existing workforce strategy by meeting the specific skill shortages in IT and digital, increasing capacity in demand areas.”
